Pierburg oil pressure valves: 100 percent tested

By further expanding its product range of precision oil pressure valves from Pierburg, MS Motorservice International GmbH is strengthening its position as a leading supplier in the global aftermarket. The current line-up of 30 Pierburg oil pressure valves – developed in Europe and 100 per cent tested – covers a global vehicle population of around 80 million passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

Oil pressure valves play a key role in controlling modern oil circuits, working in conjunction with variable oil pumps and oil pressure sensors to regulate both the pressure and the volumetric flow of the engine oil. The valves are used at various locations within the engine – for example on the oil pump, on the oil filter, or in the crankcase for piston crown cooling.
All Pierburg valves currently available are 2/2‑way or 3/2‑way valves controlled via a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal. This allows oil circuits to be precisely adapted to different load conditions. The result is optimised lubrication, more efficient cooling, fewer pressure peaks and reduced power requirements for the oil pump – all of which help lower CO₂ emissions and pollutant output.

Maximum reliability
Every single Pierburg oil pressure valve undergoes a comprehensive functional test after production. The valves are energised, and typical load conditions are simulated using an oil substitute. The packaging is then welded to ensure oil tightness. This ensures consistently high product quality.
Many valves also feature a fine-mesh protective screen in front of the switchable oil channels, which filters out larger particles and extends the valve’s service life. However, the most common cause of failure remains poor-quality or outdated engine oil.

From compact cars to the premium segment
The constantly expanding portfolio covers applications for almost all relevant vehicle segments and manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes‑Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Volvo, Toyota, Jeep, Chevrolet, Porsche and many more.
The range extends from 1.0-litre three-cylinder engines to high-performance engines with a displacement of over 6 litres, such as those used in premium SUVs or performance models. Motorservice therefore offers repair shops and parts dealers a reliable, OE‑quality solution for a wide variety of repair scenarios.
