SEG Automotive presents aftermarket portfolio at this year's Automechanika in Frankfurt

When Automechanika opens its doors in Frankfurt, the most important industry trade fair in the aftermarket, from 8 to 12 September 2026, SEG Automotive will once again provide an insight into its broad aftermarket portfolio.

At booth C20 in hall 3.0, visitors can convince themselves of the OE quality of starters, alternators, 48V mild hybrid starter generators (BRM) and starter batteries. In addition, the company will be showing the remanufactured high-voltage drive units for the Tesla Model S and the Renault Zoe under the 'redrive' brand on site at the stand.

  • SEG Automotive presents roadmap for the next step in the 'redrive' portfolio: The e-motor for the Hyundai Kona and the Kia Niro (both on the same basis) is planned for the end of 2026.
  • Cut section model of the remanufactured redrive drive unit for the Tesla Model S
  • Best-in-class heavy-duty alternator and latest starter for heavy commercial vehicles on display at the stand
  • Overview of the starter and alternator portfolio as well as the 48V Mild Hybrid Boost Recuperation Machine (also called BSG – belt-driven starter generator) in the simulated splash test
  • SEG Automotive POWERbattery: Latest battery technology for passenger cars and commercial vehicles

Remanufactured high-voltage drives on the rise:

Exactly two years ago, SEG Automotive presented the first manufacturer-independent replacement solution for the LDU (Large Drive Unit) of the Tesla Model S under the 'redrive' brand. The background to this was the realization at SEG Automotive that workshops on a broad scale would not be able to afford the time, infrastructure and specialization to repair high-voltage drives themselves.

'redrive' solves this by remanufacturing the entire drive unit, which contains the engine as well as the inverter and the transmission. True to the triad of Receive – Replace – Return, workshops receive a product for complete replacement, comparable to other parts from SEG Automotive such as starters or alternators. In combination with the usual price advantage of 30 percent through remanufacturing, this is an attractive offer for the workshop.

Today, the redrive product family also offers an electric motor for the Renault Zoe, which is also high-volume. Here, too, SEG Automotive has not been content with merely remanufacturing an existing product, but as with the Tesla drive, effective improvements have been made that increase the service life compared to the replaced part.

The success story now continues:

Just in time for AUTOMECHANIKA, SEG Automotive announces the next product under 'redrive': From the end of 2026, sales for the Hyundai Kona and the Kia Niro, which both use the same basis, are also to start in the aftermarket. The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) will be available for both power levels available in the vehicles (100 kW/136 hp and 150 kW/204 hp).

Commercial vehicle parts from the OE manufacturer
From distribution trucks and long-distance transport to construction, agricultural and special vehicles: It is not only OEMs in the commercial vehicle sector who rely on the robust and durable starters and alternators from SEG Automotive. In the aftermarket, too, OE quality prevails in an area of application where every downtime of the workshop customer costs dearly.

At AUTOMECHANIKA, SEG Automotive will be showcasing its two top products for the heaviest commercial vehicles:

The heavy-duty generator from SEG Automotive sets standards in its class in terms of energy density, resistance, efficiency, robustness, durability and quality. Significant improvements make it the best-in-class product in its segment:

  • Significant performance increase of up to 20 percent in the ideal power range of 2,100 rpm
  • Expansion of the product range with a more powerful class for even more energy-intensive applications
  • Doubling the standard service life
  • Increased temperature robustness by approx. 30 percent to expand the range of applications

The heavy-duty starter impresses with its optimized design, which ensures noticeably higher performance. Drivers, workshops and fleet operators benefit from clear increases in:

  • Lifetime
  • Start cycles
  • Temperature resistance

The robustness has also been further optimized: The starter is dust-proof and protected against water during high-pressure/steam jet cleaning (IP protection class IP6k9k).

Reliability guaranteed: starters, alternators and 48V mild hybrid starter generators
Starters, alternators and – as they become more widespread – also the 48V mild hybrid starter generators lead a hard life: Wet, heat, cold, dust and vibrations are just some of the stresses that SEG Automotive products endure every day. To do this, they are put through their paces by the manufacturer and only leave the OE production lines for the aftermarket when they have passed the final test.

SEG Automotive will also be demonstrating this at this year's booth, where the products meet their natural challenges. The manufacturer's team is ready to present interested parties in detail the extensive tests to which the products are already subjected during development.

Performance when it counts: SEG Automotive POWERbattery
In the aftermarket, SEG Automotive's 12V starter batteries not only stand for OE quality, maximum performance and reliability. Rather, they combine other decisive advantages for workshops and end customers:

  • The integrated Magic Eye charge level indicator enables quick and uncomplicated control of the battery status – without the need for an additional measuring device.
  • Plate separators ensure maximum operational safety by ensuring efficient current flow, withstanding vibration and preventing short circuits between plates. Thanks to the innovative labyrinth lid technology, the battery is completely maintenance-free. Safety locks, flame arresters and a central degassing system offer reliable protection against leakage.
  • A robust housing and a reinforced lid ensure high mechanical resilience – ideal for demanding operating conditions. A further developed lead-calcium grid complements the overall concept and ensures particularly low self-discharge, even with longer service lives, as well as high corrosion and heat resistance.
  • The performance package is rounded off by a warranty of 3 years or 12 months from a capacity of 110 Ah.
  • There is a choice of three high-performance battery technologies: the classic lead-calcium battery (SLI), the long-lasting Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) and the particularly powerful lead-fleece battery (AGM).
  • With only 9 part numbers, SEG Automotive already covers 97% of all passenger cars, with 3 part numbers 95% of vans and with another 5 part numbers 90% of commercial vehicles.
  • The batteries are suitable for all types of motors – from classic combustion engines (ICE) to mild and full hybrids (MHEV, HEV) to plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and all-electric vehicles (BEV).

At booth 3.0|C20 at AUTOMECHANIKA, SEG Automotive will provide insights into the technology of premium batteries and present the portfolio in detail to interested visitors.
