GS Yuasa powers ahead with exciting battery launches, collaborations with Honda and European marketing campaign

At the prestigious Automechanika Birmingham exhibition in the UK, GS Yuasa unveiled their latest addition to their market-leading auxiliary range: the GYAUX9 battery. Specifically designed for a wide range of Volvo vehicle types, this innovative auxiliary battery provides the optimal solution for Volvo's dual battery systems. With a 12 Volt power supply, 8.4Ah capacity, and 120 A (EN), the GYAUX9 is suitable for popular Volvo models like the S60 and XC90.
Alongside the GYAUX9, GS Yuasa also introduced the GYAUX14 battery, which is designed for Audi, BMW, and Mercedes auxiliary applications. These additions have expanded GS Yuasa's auxiliary line-up, making it the widest range available from any manufacturer.
James Hylton, Automotive Market Leader at GS Yuasa Battery Europe, expressed delight at the launch, emphasising the company's commitment to providing the widest range of batteries to meet the evolving demands of the vehicle market. GS Yuasa is the only major manufacturer producing lead acid, lithium-ion starter, and lithium-ion drivetrain batteries, ensuring they cover all future market requirements.
The increasing demand for auxiliary batteries is present across the European vehicle parc. Auxiliary batteries power accessory and safety systems and computer controls, enhancing safety, comfort, and efficiency.
In another significant development, GS Yuasa and Honda have signed a joint venture agreement to establish a new company named Honda – GS Yuasa EV Battery R&D Co., Ltd. This collaboration aims to research and develop high-capacity, high-output lithium-ion batteries primarily for electric vehicles (EVs). The joint venture will contribute to the realisation of carbon neutrality and establish a highly efficient production system for its batteries.
