Evolving with the Market: SIL’s Expertise in Electric Water Pumps

With over 80 years of experience, SIL leverages its OE know-how to support the electrification of the automotive sector, providing advanced electric water pump solutions for both main and auxiliary cooling circuits.

SIL, a brand of the Saleri Group, is a pioneer in the design and production of cooling systems for the automotive industry. With in-house production and a presence in over 65 international markets, SIL delivers premium-quality components tailored for aftermarket customers.
The brand entered the electric water pump (EWP) market for the aftermarket at the end of 2019, building on decades of experience in OE applications. SIL developed its first electric water pump for OEM use in the early 2000s, quickly becoming a trusted supplier for major European automakers. That first success marked the beginning of a long series of strategic partnerships that continue today.

Currently, SIL offers a comprehensive range of more than 140 electric pump codes, both main and auxiliary, with power outputs ranging from 30W to 600W. These pumps are designed to meet the increasingly complex thermal management needs of modern vehicles, including hybrids and EVs.

Main electric pumps are primarily responsible for managing engine temperatures or cooling high-voltage battery packs. SIL’s pumps are electronically controlled and activated by the ECU based on thermal conditions, using advanced software developed by the company’s R&D team. The integration of the hydraulic system, electric motor, and electronic control unit enables precise flow modulation of the coolant. This results in better fuel efficiency, reduced CO₂ emissions - especially during cold starts and stop-start cycles - and longer battery life in electric vehicles.
Key features of SIL’s main electric water pumps include:
• Wet rotor architecture
• Communication protocols such as PWM, LIN, LIN PWM, and CAN
• Electronically controlled on-demand cooling
• Torque-limited impeller speed control
• Integrated self-protection and diagnostics.

Auxiliary electric pumps, on the other hand, manage the temperature of components that operate independently from the engine. These include turbochargers, intercoolers, cabin heaters, start-stop systems, batteries, EGR valves, exhaust gas systems, and transmission oil. Auxiliary pumps can continue functioning even when the engine is turned off, ensuring reliable thermal regulation under all operating conditions and enhancing vehicle durability and comfort.

As a cooling systems specialist, SIL guarantees the same quality and performance as OE products. The solutions are manufactured in-house, from design through production to final quality control, ensuring reliability and technical precision at every step.

SIL is more than just a parts supplier: it is a strategic partner for distributors and workshops looking to stay ahead in a rapidly changing market. Backed by over 80 years of expertise, a solid OE foundation, and a deep understanding of next-generation vehicle requirements, SIL is ready to lead the way in electric thermal management.
Secure a partner like SIL: with its proximity to OE innovation and a targeted product range, you’ll be fully equipped to meet the demands of the electrified aftermarket.
