Driveshaft Expertise in the Light Commercial Vehicle Class
The driveshaft specialist Welte, based in Neu-Ulm, with its brand EDS – All Driveshaft, covers almost all driveshaft-related needs of light commercial vehicles, meeting the demands of both dealers and customers.
Over 200 Mercedes Sprinter driveshafts available from stock
The class leader and namesake of this vehicle category also takes the lead when it comes to product demands. With a range of more than 200 different driveshafts and the key wear components such as Centre bearings and Universal joints, Welte covers nearly all driveshaft requirements for Mercedes vans. Welte comprehensive supply program also provides suitable solutions for Renault, Iveco, and VW/MAN vehicles.
Ulf Kück, one of the managing directors of the Welte Group, explains:
“Vans are essential for last-mile logistics and must be ready for every day use – downtime is expensive. With our express delivery directly to the workshop, we ensure that the precise driveshaft required is ready on-site the next morning, so the vehicle can be immediately operational again after repair.”
OE quality and alternatives for price-conscious customers
As an OES supplier and official remanufacturing partner of Daimler Buses, the Welte Group knows exactly the quality requirements for driveshafts. No compromises are made when it comes to forged parts, universal joints, or tube sections. However, to be competitive in a price-sensitive market, Welte offers products under the EDS brand in addition to OE-quality, EDS-PLUS brand parts.
According to Robert Sanchez, Technical Director of Welte Cardan-Service GmbH, the rear Universal joints in vans – located in front of the rear axle differential – are most often affected by heavy wear.
“The rear universal joint has to compensate for a larger angle, and at the same time it is increasingly exposed to adverse operating conditions such as water, dust, or road salt, which over time can damage the seals,” explains the driveshaft expert.
