BORG Automotive Reman: double nomination for Automechanika Innovation Award

In the “AI & Digitalisation” category, BORG Automotive Reman secured the nomination with a new data capture system for incoming used parts, which is currently in the pilot phase. It is able to read the product label of a used part with a camera, automatically identify the searched number, and enter it into the ERP system. Thus, it reduces processing and training times while increasing data quality.

The subject of the application in the “E- Mobility & Innovative Drive Technologies” category is equally inventive. BORG Automotive Reman has developed the end-to-end remanufacturing process for a belt-driven 48V starter generator (BSG), a technology that is widely used in modern cars with mild hybrid systems. Among other things, this process includes electronic module diagnostics and an extended end-of-line test procedure.
“Due to the growing complexity of today's vehicles and the increasingly important role of digital technologies and electronic controllers, only very few remanufacturers are able to return modern spare parts to as-new condition,” explains Grzegorz Pawłowski, Group Technology Director at BORG Automotive Reman. “We have proven many times that our in-house R&D centre is capable of building up the relevant expertise - as we have now done once again in the field of belt-driven 48V starter generators.”

With the double nomination, BORG Automotive Reman can now claim to be an official “nominee” for outstanding technological innovations within the scope of the competition. Whether the winning title in one of the two categories will be added is announced on the 10th of September 2024 in a special ceremony at Automechanika.
Grzegorz Pawłowski: “We are excited and looking forward to the winner announcement. But we are already proud that, despite strong competition and record participation with more than 150 products submitted for the Innovation Awards, we have managed to reach the final in two categories.”
