Air Conditioning & Engine Cooling
Air conditioning condensers, compressors and compressors oils, plus cabin blower and cooling fans, cooling radiators, evaporators, expansion valves, heater cores, thermostats, intercoolers, pressure switches, resistors, actuators and receiver driers
With more than 70 years of experience, DENSO is the OE partner of choice for nearly all vehicle manufacturers, to develop air conditioning (AC) and engine cooling systems. Over this time, DENSO has developed several leading technologies that are used today, including multiflow radiators and subcool condensers, but also the first mass produced e-compressor.
DENSO’s knowledge and engineering capability is reflected in the quality of its aftermarket products, by using its experience and data as the benchmark for quality and performance ratings, and precisely matching OEM specification to ensure a perfect fit and creating synergy within the system it is part of. This increases product durability and driving comfort, while ensuring optimum efficiency, minimizing fuel consumption and reducing emissions.
Fitted as OE to almost 25% of European cars, DENSO’s engine cooling technologies are present in its aftermarket range, which includes radiators, heater cores, intercoolers, cooling fans and thermostats.
When it comes to AC components, as a world leader in OE system products, DENSO’s replacement ranges canoffer unique advantages to the aftermarket. The programme includes compressors, condensers, expansion valves, pressure switches as well as cabin blower fans and other heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) components
Rotating Electrics
Starters and alternators
Since the 1960s, DENSO has used its leading engineering expertise to develop the highest quality starter and alternator programmes. As a prominent OE manufacturer, its aftermarket range offers the same OE specifications, with entirely new parts and no remanufactured units. In addition, every machine is subject to the company’s rigorous manufacturing and testing processes, to ensure it meets the highest standards of fit and performance.
Diesel Engine Components
Common rail injectors, pumps and SCVs, plus ECD pumps and mechanical pump systems
As the company that invented the first the common rail (CR) fuel injection system for commercial vehicles, glow plug with a ceramic heating element and the exhaust gas recirculation valve, DENSO is a diesel pioneer. As a result, its aftermarket products set the standards and include CR supply pumps, suction control valve kits and CR injectors.
As worldwide emissions standards became increasingly stringent, purely mechanical injectors gave way to electronically controlled versions, first solenoid controlled electromagnetic types, after which, Piezo semiconductor-controlled injectors were also introduced. However, the most recent injector innovation is DENSO’s intelligent–Accuracy Refinement Technology (i-ART).
i-ART is a system that automatically makes corrections so that fuel injection is performed with the correct characteristics. Whereas conventional common rail diesel injection systems have a single pressure sensor to control the injectors, i-ART has a combined fuel temperature and pressure sensor with a microprocessor attached to the top of the injector to detect pressure and temperature changes during fuel injection, feeding this information back to the electronic control unit, which corrects variations in the injection characteristics such as the injection rate.
i-ART technology was first introduced as an OE solution in 2012 for the Toyota Hilux, while Volvo was the first European vehicle manufacturer to adopt it. In addition, not only has DENSO incorporated it into its fourth-generation Piezo injectors, but also selected solenoid activated versions of the same generation.
Engine Management Systems
Lambda sensors, exhaust gas temperature sensors, mass air slow sensors (MAFs), camshaft and crankshaft sensors, exhaust gas recirculation valves and manifold absolute pressure sensors (MAPs)
DENSO’s OE heritage provides an essential foundation in developing and producing an aftermarket engine management system (EMS) range. Its deep understanding of VM specifications, the integration of functions within EMS systems and state of the art OE testing facilities result in an aftermarket range that complies with the same specifications as the part that was designed and installed into the vehicle when it came off the assembly line. The DENSO EMS programme includes lambda sensors, exhaust gas temperature sensors, manifold absolute pressure sensors, cam and crankshaft position sensors, exhaust gas recirculation valves, ignition coils, fuel pumps and mass air flow sensors.
As one of the world’s foremost OE developers, DENSO’s understanding of lambda (O2) sensortechnology is unrivalled.Since it first produced them in 1978, DENSO hasbecome one of the leading suppliers, with several hundred million measuring the air/fuel mixture in the global car parc.
Inside each sensor, there is the element that undertakes the sensing function. From a construction perspective, there are two types of sensor element design: thimble type elements, made from zirconia ceramic and supported by a separate heater to reach the operational temperatures quickly and planar type elements, which consist of laminated layers of ceramic materials that integrate both the sensing element and heater functions, to deliver the quickest activation time possible.
Filtration
Cabin air filters
In addition to ensuring the peak performance of the AC system, premium quality cabin filters also safeguard the health and wellbeing of the vehicle’s occupants. These filters and filtration systems work hard to optimise the cabin environment, preventing airborne particles such as dust, pollutants, pollens and other allergens from entering the cabin and taking the driver’s attention away from the road. In particular, they prevent particulates from entering the HVAC system, because, without a correctly performing cabin air filter, the system won’t receive the continuous flow of clean air that is needed to operate efficiently
DENSO’s cabin filtration systems have been developed to OE quality standards with advanced technologies, easy-fit design and long-life efficiency to allow them to stand up to the rigours of everyday use. By filtering and trapping potentially irritating and hazardous particles before they enter the car's cabin, its filter systems provide the occupants with a clean and temperate environment, allowing them to travel with complete peace of mind and ensuring the driver can concentrate on the road, without the inconvenience of sore eyes or the fear of breathing in bacteria and other allergens.
Despite being traditionally considered as a seasonal product, the cabin filter has now become an all-year-round replacement requirement, particularly as using the HVAC system, whatever the season, is finally being accepted as not only the best course of action for the well-being of the vehicle’s occupants, but also for the performance and longevity of the complete AC system.
In order to provide the independent sector with the highly effective OE quality replacement components it needs, DENSO Aftermarket offers two types of cabin air filter: standard Particle Filters and Combination Filters, which have an additional, activated charcoal layer located inside the filtration material which is capable of eliminating odour and smell from the outside air.
Ignition
Spark plugs, glow plugs, ignition coils and fuel pumps
Successful, fuel efficient ignition is one of the most important engine functions, yet a common cause of faults. DENSO has been setting the standard for ignition innovation for 70 years and its product range covers ignition components for diesel, petrol and hybrid vehicles.
The high quality all makes spark plug programme, includes its market leading Iridium TT spark plugs, which use advanced technology to enable them to deliver superior performance. When it comes to glow plugs, the comprehensive product range encompasses all current glow plug technologies including single coil, double coil, extended post-heating, ceramic and instant heating.
Wiper Blades
Standard, hybrid, flat and rear
DENSO wiper blades are the choice of many VMs worldwide and are fitted as OE on a host of high end vehicles. As a crucial component of a car’s safety system, our car wiper blades are meticulously manufactured and tested to ensure they meet precise standards of fit and performance. With a proven OE heritage and a history of pioneering new designs, DENSO’s wiper blades are the number one choice for the aftermarket. They are thoroughly tried and tested, so motorists and aftermarket professionals can rely on their safety and performance.
The aftermarket range combines intelligent design, top quality materials and accurate manufacture to ensure they wipe better and last longer, and consists of four product types: flat, conventional, hybrid and rear blades.
