SkaMa: The Green Deal in the focus of the German-Greek economic relationship

On the 9th of February 2022, SKAMA S.A. participated in a panel discussion on the topic "The Green Deal in the focus of the German-Greek economic relationship." The panel discussion was part of the annual New Year's dinner of the German Hellenic Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DGIHK) in Athens and was attended by distinguished guest speakers like the president of the German-Hellenic Chamber, Mr. Konstantinos Marangos, the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, the Chief Executive of Foreign Trade and Member of the Executive Board of DIHK (Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry), Dr. Volker Treier, and the president of Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council) and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, Dr Martin Brudermuller.

In his statement to the audience, the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis confirmed that the Greek economy is recovering with growth rates that have exceeded even the most optimistic forecasts. The discussion evolved around green hydrogen becoming part of our lives much faster than we can imagine, energy and the circular economy expanding the possibilities for German-Greek synergies and making sure the industry goes green with the transformation process remaining internationally competitive. The German head of the Federal Chancellery and Federal Minister for special Tasks, Wolfgang Schmidt who attended virtually, reassured participants that the new federal government will continue to maintain its close relationship with Greece. 

Αfter the panel discussion the president of the German-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Konstantinos Marangos concluded with the following statement: “Greece has embarked on a new, strong growth path that is expected to last for a long time. In this economic environment, Germany continues to play a leading role with its investments.”
