You may know that Lesjӧfors Automotive produce the world’s largest range of coil springs for the car and LCV market, offering OE quality products and unrivalled availability. With over 170 years spring manufacturing experience, Lesjӧfors today are European market leaders in the suspension coil spring aftermarket - supplying leading parts wholesalers globally from a stock of two million springs located at distribution centres in Sweden, Germany, the UK and the USA.

What you might not know is that the Lesjӧfors Group has ambitions to be the most sustainable spring and pressing supplier in the world.

Major Milestone Achieved

In a first for the spring manufacturing industry, the Lesjӧfors Group’s near-term climate emission reduction targets have officially been validated by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).

The validation by the SBTi (the official body for setting climate targets) establishes the Lesjӧfors Group as the only spring and pressing manufacturer in the world to achieve the validation, confirming the Lesjӧfors Group’s commitment to achieving the Paris agreement goals of limiting global warming to 1.5 ̊C above pre-industrial levels.

Automotive Aftermarket

The Automotive Aftermarket division has reduced its scope 3 emissions by cutting CO2 emissions by 95%, has established new eco packaging, alongside a new branding programme, and has also advanced its packaging capabilities with investment in new packaging machinery which is also increasing cost and waste efficiencies.

With headquarters in Växjö, Sweden, Lesjӧfors aftermarket operations has firmly positioned itself as a dominant force within its sector, and with increased efficiencies and enlarged capacity it now opens the doors to continued global growth.

Robert Glynn, Head of Lesjӧfors Automotive Aftermarket confirms: “Our investment in more sustainable practices is representative of our drive to deliver on our quality, range and customer service values.

We want to secure Lesjöfors’ position within the automotive aftermarket even further and we’re working to enhance our product development process, engaging with customers and suppliers to increase the share of recycled metals, developing lower carbon footprint metals across the group’s product lines.”

Collaborative Partnerships

With 70% of CO2 emissions generated through raw material via metal component manufacturing, Lesjӧfors’ climate reduction roadmap towards 2030 includes increasing the share of recycled metals and lowering the carbon footprint of the raw material used, as well as sector development in the transport and steel industry.

Significant investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy across Lesjӧfors’ 50+ manufacturing and sales sites have also crucially already reduced direct emissions.

Leading with Purpose

Ola Tengroth, CEO of the Lesjӧfors Group concludes: “It's our responsibility to lead with purpose and action. We have worked incredibly hard to achieve sustainable change across our organization and our emission reduction roadmap to 2030 ensures our responsibility and accountability.

The SBTi validation underscores the credibility of our action plan, delivers great pride amongst our employees, and delivers a framework that drives our ongoing dedication.”
