Biofunctional filters for greater protection in vehicles
The current range of eleven filters covers around 87 million vehicles worldwide. The new filters ensure that the interior air is cleaned particularly thoroughly, offering a high level of protection for vehicle occupants.
The multi-layer filters clean the outside air drawn in by the interior fan before it makes its way inside the vehicle. As well as conventional air pollutants such as dust and exhaust gas, the three layers also filter out allergens, pollen and mould spores. An additional biofunctional coating inhibits the growth of bacteria and mould on the filter surface. This makes the filters particularly suitable for people with sensitivities, such as those with allergies or asthma. After all, an adult breathes between 400 and 500 litres of air per hour while seated. Air quality can be severely compromised, particularly in traffic, which is why a high-quality cabin filter is recommended.
The filters also protect the air conditioning evaporator from dirt and dust. Replacing the filters regularly therefore not only contributes to the health and well-being of the vehicle occupants, but also to the durability of the entire air conditioning system.
Design of the biofunctional cabin filter
The filter consists of three functional layers. The particle filter layer provides protection against large and small particles such as dust, fine dust, pollen and tyre abrasion. The activated carbon layer neutralises unpleasant odours and filters out harmful gases such as ozone and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The biofunctional layer blocks allergens and, thanks to an additional coating, minimises the growth of bacteria and mould.
