Different road surfaces, slippery roads and fast cars represent a great challenge to both driver and vehicle. In order to guarantee safety on the road, modern vehicles are fitted with complex driving assistance systems. The wheel speed sensor, or ABS sensor, is the most important of these components.
The measurement of the wheel speed is required in order for the supporting safety systems, such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stabilisation programme (ESP) and traction control system (TCS), to function properly. The ABS sensor transmits a signal for each wheel to the control unit. This information is then processed and used to calculate the control phases required for braking. A defective sensor may cause the ABS system to switch off, so that the brakes only work as a conventional dual circuit system.
Our Elparts range includes ABS sensors for 4,000 European vehicles, while 1,000 sensors for Asian vehicles can be found in the Jakoparts range.
Wheel speed sensors are an integral part of both ranges. You can find the wheel speed sensors under the following part numbers: 70660…, J591…, J592… and J593…
